So I don't know if it's obvious but im a little bit of fangirl for Odd Future the teen, twenty something hip hop collective from Cali that has made quite some noise this past year. Tyler, the Creator has so far made his stamp on the industry and the sub group of Hodgy Beats and Left Brain known as MelloHype is up next. The re-released their second album from last year Blackendwhite into stores last week. Now im not going to go and compare emcee Hodgy Beats to Tyler cause they are two totally different people with two different aesthetics and deliveries. Surprisingly Hodgy tends to be a little bit more conscious speaking about gang violence and absentee fathers (well so does Tyler but Hodgy is a bit more....rational about it) and Hodgy melts perfectly into Left Brain's superb production. Left Brain's production is a lot more bass and synth heavy than Tyler's production, to me Left's production is so West Coast. Even though the attention right now is on the Blackendwhite project, I actually take more of a liking to their previous offering Yellowwhite. Even though the production is not as polished as the current album it makes it that much more raw. The jammie of the day comes from that album and it goes by the name "CocainKeys" enjoy.
